Duplicating a Template

A duplicate is an independent private copy. It comes in handy as a safe branch before a major design change or as a base for another project.

What you will learn

  • Create your own copy of an existing template.
  • Distinguish a copy from another version of the same file.
  • Use a duplicate for safe experimentation.

How to create a duplicate

  1. In your account, find the template you want to use as a base.
  2. In its actions, select Duplicate.
  3. Wait for the application to create a new record with its own internal code and initial history.
  4. Rename the new card so you don't confuse it with the original, for example company-dark.
  5. Open the copy and edit it. The original template will remain unchanged.

When a copy is useful

New color variant

You keep the layout, but try different colors, fonts, and skins.

Major grid change

Before deleting rows or rearranging positions, you retain a functional original.

Another website

You adjust a proven base for a new project without affecting the first one.

Backup before an experiment

You can compare the copy with the original and keep the more successful variant.

The copy is no longer synchronized

Changes to the copy will not affect the original, and subsequent changes to the original will not automatically transfer to the copy. They are two separate designs.
