You can change the working name before exporting. The content, layout, and appearance of the template will remain unchanged.
What you will learn
- Find the rename action in your account.
- Enter a valid installation name.
- Understand what renaming affects and what it does not.
Renaming procedure
- Return from the editor to your account.
- On your template's card, open available actions and select Rename.
- Enter a new name between 1 and 20 characters. It is best to use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens.
- Confirm the change. If the name is invalid, adjust it according to the displayed message.
- Check the new name on the template card. Read through it once more before exporting.
What stays the same
Renaming changes the installation name of the record, not the design itself. Rows, Joomla positions, modules, skins, snippets, colors, and work history will all be preserved. Therefore, you do not need to reopen the editor to fix content.
Likewise, renaming does not create a second variant. If you want to safely try another layout while preserving the original, use the Duplicate feature instead.
Beware of previously installed packages
The new name will be used for future work and exports. The application cannot retroactively rename a template you have already installed on another Joomla website.
