Creating Your Own Copy of a Shared Template

You do not enter someone else's editor when using a shared template. The application creates a new private design for you that you can modify at will.

What you will learn

  • Acquire a selected design from the gallery.
  • Name your copy.
  • Verify that a private and editable template has been created.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Find a suitable shared template in the gallery and open its preview.
  2. Review the structure and select the Use Template action or the corresponding button to create a copy.
  3. Enter a custom name when prompted. The application will safely sanitize and trim optional names to an acceptable length.
  4. Confirm the creation. The server will re-verify that the source still exists and is indeed shared.
  5. Once complete, open your account. The new template will appear as your private card.
  6. Open it in the editor and replace demo colors, texts, images, and modules with your custom design.

What the application checks during acquisition

The source configuration is reloaded, sanitized, and verified on the server. The copy receives its own internal identity and initial history. Therefore, simply using an old card link is not enough. The source must remain available, shared, and eligible for the gallery at the moment of acquisition.

The template might have vanished in the meantime

The author may turn off sharing between the time you open the preview and when you confirm. In that case, the application will not create the copy. Return to the gallery and select another design.
