A good prompt does not need to be long or technical. The AI mainly needs to understand the purpose of the website, its visitors, and the overall impression the new Joomla template should evoke.
What you will learn
- Distinguish between template design and actual website content creation.
- Describe the purpose, target visitor, and visual tone in a few sentences.
- Select information that genuinely helps the AI.
- Avoid sensitive data and unachievable requirements.
You are specifying appearance and structure, not a finished website
Template Architect uses AI to create a new template. The template defines rows, positions, modules, colors, and typography. The AI will not generate actual Joomla articles, products, customer accounts, or menu items. On the canvas, you will see safe sample content that helps evaluate the design.
Therefore, it is much more useful to write "a clean website for a small architectural studio featuring bold photography" than to paste the full text of your future About Us page. You will add the actual content later in Joomla. For now, you are explaining to the AI what layout and space the template should prepare for it.
Build your prompt in four steps
- Define the purpose. State whether it is a corporate presentation, magazine, personal portfolio, or online store, for example. Stick to one primary role for the site.
- Describe the visitor. A brief note is enough: a new customer looking for a service, a reader of technical articles, or a shopper comparing products.
- Express the tone and mood. Use two to four clear adjectives, such as calm, trustworthy, airy, and modern. Contradictory instructions dilute the final result unnecessarily.
- Add one key feature. This could be a prominent hero section, a subtle sidebar, or an emphasis on readability. Avoid repeating choices you will already configure in other fields of the wizard.

"A new template for a small family bookstore. Visitors should quickly find recommended books and contact information. The design should be welcoming, calm, and easy to read, with ample space for book covers and short recommendations."
What usually does not improve a prompt
A long list of micro-instructions can obscure the main goal. Avoid specifying exact padding for every row, ten color shades, and final button text all at once. These details are easier to fine-tune in the editor, where you can immediately see the result on desktop, tablet, and mobile displays.
Also avoid vague phrases like "make it pretty" or "create the best website." Replace them with observable goals: "the visitor should quickly find the three main services and contact details." If you have an inspiration site, describe the specific feature you like rather than asking for a direct copy. Furthermore, AI outputs pass through third-party branding checks.
If two requirements might conflict, specify their priority. For example: "Readability is the top priority, followed by a bold design." Giving the AI a clear hierarchy provides better guidance and gives you a simple metric to review the result later.
Do not include sensitive data in the prompt
Do not include passwords, API keys, customer personal data, or non-public business information. The prompt is used to draft a new template and is processed by a configured external AI service.
