Image Bank provides a secure selection of images for layout design. It offers an authorized local folder on your site as well as Pixabay search integration.
What you will learn
- Select an image from an authorized local media library.
- Search for and display photos from Pixabay.
- Use images within supported layout elements.
- Understand caching, size constraints, and export placeholder handling.
Two sources, one secure dialog
The local tab displays actual images sourced directly from a designated folder. Standard formats supported include JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and AVIF.
Pixabay is an optional external source. Search results are not linked directly from third-party remote URLs; the application verifies and processes the asset prior to placement.
Using an image
- Open the Image Bank from any supported image field, background setting, slideshow, or Custom HTML module.
- In the local section, browse through categories and paginated results. Select an image based on an appropriate aspect ratio rather than relying solely on thumbnail previews.
- To use Pixabay, switch sources and enter a concise search query using standard characters without Czech accents (e.g., modern office). Search queries are capped at 64 characters.
- Insert only verified search assets into your design layout.
- Adjust crop parameters or background positioning, then check responsiveness across desktop and mobile views.
- Make a note of the final production media files you will need to upload to the destination website following template installation.
Limits and licensing
Each results page fetches between 3 and 24 items. Full-resolution Pixabay images cannot exceed 10 MiB, and preview thumbnails are limited to 2 MiB. The Image Bank functions as a design asset selector rather than a full media management suite, and it does not replace proper media organization on your live site.
Always verify rights and licensing terms for any external photograph to ensure it is suitable for your commercial or personal application. While the application streamlines technical selection, it does not assume responsibility for asset content, model releases, or trademark rights.
The export archive does not bundle images
Local, Pixabay, and sample design images serve purely as visual layout placeholders. The template export process replaces them with safe placeholder assets. You must upload final production media directly within your destination Joomla site post-installation.
Selecting an appropriate photo
For hero sections, choose images that feature clear copy-space where text remains legible. For card grids, maintain consistent aspect ratios across all featured images to prevent uneven row heights and misaligned layouts. Avoid placing primary visual subjects too close to image boundaries, as responsive CSS cover properties may crop outer edges on mobile screens.
Images should complement rather than substitute written content. Include descriptive alternative text (`alt`) wherever supported elements allow; purely decorative background assets should have minimal significance for screen readers. Complete final media optimization, file naming conventions, and licensing records within your live Joomla environment.
