The logo represents the site's brand in the header or another Joomla position. The bundled module offers two distinct presentation options: an image-based logo or a text-based brand mark.
What you will learn
- Insert a Logo from the module catalog into a suitable position.
- Distinguish between a text brand mark, name, and tagline.
- Understand when the module is bundled with the export.
- Avoid blank output resulting from missing data.
Components of the Logo module
The module can display either a linked logo image (which you must upload directly within the Joomla site installation) or a text brand mark. Without an image, you can use a short mark of up to three characters, a name, and a tagline or slogan. The tagline belongs to the text variant and is not sufficient on its own without a name or mark.
An image is ideal for a ready-made graphic icon or symbol. The text option is suitable for an initial draft or a brand identity rooted in typography. Use the name and tagline conservatively: lengthy text in a narrow mobile header can consume more space than the primary menu itself.
The module does not automatically fetch the global site name. If neither a name nor a mark is provided, it will render nothing; a standalone tagline is insufficient. Therefore, an empty Logo does not default to a fallback Joomla brand mark.
How to create a basic brand mark
- In Modules mode, open the catalog and search for Logo.
- Drag the module into an active Joomla position, most commonly in the top row. It cannot be placed inside the componentbox.
- Select the new instance and open the right inspector panel. Choose the text representation with a name or short mark; you can also add a tagline to the text variant.
- Set a safe link target and verify that the mark is legible against the header background.
- Switch between desktop, tablet, and mobile views. Ensure the logo does not overlap the menu or adjacent modules.
Logo as an entry point to header presets
The Logo module serves a special secondary role in the editor. If it is the first connected Logo module in a supported top row, you can launch the page header preset dialog directly from it. This dialog can construct an entire row layout including the logo, menu, and supported action elements. Simply inserting a second Logo module into a different row does not automatically provide this capability.

A preset is an independent layout-level operation. Therefore, configure your basic brand identity first before deciding whether to quickly rebuild the header layout using one of the pre-built variants.
Preview, export, and live site
The editor displays an inert representation of the brand mark without launching a live page, and links inside the preview remain inactive. The bundled Logo module is only added to the installation package if the design actively uses it.
The image selected for the design inside the editor is not automatically included in the installation package. The export process replaces local design assets or stock photos with placeholders. You must upload your custom logo image within the actual Joomla installation.
For standard usage, prepare a logo with sufficient contrast against both light and dark backgrounds, and verify its legibility at compact header heights.
Result
The Logo is positioned in an active slot, features at least a text brand mark, and remains clearly legible across all three viewport widths.
